Yes it is. NA looks for the data fields in specific columns, otherwise it
gets confused.
Its been my experience that avoiding hidden characters in ASCII data files
generally is the most robust. Tabs relinquish some of the data formatting
control to the program editing the file, which is exactly what we don't
want. By using spaces, the file will appear the same regardless of the
application that's examining it.
