The band-timer is only activated for contests which have band time minimums
in their rules. The value for this is set in the Contest Rule Template
(.CRT) file setting NA's rules for that contest. Off the top of my head
this means Field Day, and many of the DX-type contests.
Alt-U is still the hot key to activate the display.

The manual says to hit ALT U but this does nothing at all.
