I did some measurements recently and it seems that SWEEP hardware
takes a single 4 ms sample every 2 seconds. This represents
0.2 % chance of hitting upon a short (intermittent) signal,
and 99.8 % chance of missing it. Hardly a real time show.
Looks like TenTec does some interpolation - the display
updates several times per second, but no new samples
are taken. In other words, most of updates are faked.
