Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2023 Jan 06 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity reached high levels this period. Region 3182 (S18E64, Dko/beta) produced an X1/2b flare at 06/0057 UTC. Growth was observed in Regions 3181 (S18E13, Dai/beta), 3182, and 3183 (S17W15, Dsi/beta) while the remaining regions were stable or in decay. No Earth-directed CMEs were detected in available data.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be low, with a chance for M-class flares and a slight chance for additional X-class flares, over 06-08 Jan.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was normal to moderate and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was steady at background levels.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to be normal to moderate over 06-08 Jan and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels throughout the period.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: The solar wind environment was slightly enhanced this period due to waning CME effects as well as negative polarity CH HSS influences.
Forecast: A slightly enhanced solar wind environment is expected in response to negative polarity CH HSS influences over 06-08 Jan.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled.
Forecast: Quiet to unsettled conditions are expected to prevail over 06-08 Jan due to negative polarity CH HSS influences.
