Jim,
It's a fairly common domestic AV interface cable used in Europe and Asia.
Though not unknown in the USA its referred to there as an EIA multiport
connector:

Thanks for your post, Kostas. Please tell us more about this cable that
was bad. Is this a coax cable? A cable with many conductors? We do
not understand "SCART" cable.
