I'm getting interested in V/UHF, satellites, etc. and am considering the
Yaesu FT-847 (even though it doesn't have VOX) as it looks like it will
give me an entry into all that stuff as well as serve as a 2nd radio for
SO2R contesting (the main event). So, I downloaded the 847 manual.
There I read something that frightened me more than anything I have
ever read by Stephen King, let alone his hero, H.P. Lovecraft.
On the next to last page the true horror is revealed, and I quote, "This
device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to
the condition that this device does not cause harmful interference."
Shudder!
I downloaded the manual from
http://www.yaesu.com/amateur/pdf/manuals/ft_847.pdf
Why would any ham buy this radio? Has anyone talked to Yaesu about this?
Is the sky falling? Is this the end? Tell me it isn't so.
