In this respect you are 110% correct - and the politicians (in the short term)
will (may?) look like heroes.  In the town I grew up, a mayor of many years back
kept taxes low - artificially low, by not keeping infrastructure up to snuff
and/or trying to pay for everything by obtaining grants.  Well, he's long gone
now and it does not take a stroke of genius to figure out what inevitably
happened.  Guess what though: some clueless are *still* around that believe he
was a hero.  Bottom line - pay now or pay later; and later will usually cost you
more!.

If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is; P.T. Barnum would be
proud.
