6 turns of LMR400 on 6 2.4" #31 cores works fine. You might need a little silicone grease for that last turn, but I did them dry. Turn diameter is about 5 - 6 inches slightly flattened with no center conductor migration.

The photo is of 6T on 5 cores although the one turn is difficult to see.

I'm not sure what type of core you are referring to. It sounds like it
isn't a toroid. However, on a 2.4" OD toroid of type 31 material, 4
turns would be only a couple hundred ohms at 80 meters, probably not
enough to do anything useful. You could get upward of 5000 ohms with 14
turns, assuming you could fit that many.
