Hi Dave

There is a reluctance and almost a unwillingness by our equivalent of the FCC
to enforce the existing laws . There is also a reluctance to investigate the
inference that clearly breaches the existing EMC laws. The onus is left to the
manufacturer or the importer with almost no checks or fines for non compliance.

Since most of the interfering equipment is imported from China, and it is not
subjected to type acceptance testing before sale, most importers ignore the
laws. Non compliant equipment is widely available from auction sites. Its no
different to the USA and Europe when it comes to this problem of enforcement
and the sale of sub standard equipment.

Hams are essentially powerless like most other countries when it comes to
having the laws applied. The hypocrisy is evident when the boot is on the other
foot and hams cause interference to poorly designed equipment. The cost of
legal action is cost prohibitive and "lawfare" is used to silence complaints.
There is no support from the government agency whose responsibility it is to
enforce these laws. Its a lost battle unfortunately.

Government policy failures, what can more can you say!

"Have you contacted your elected officials and asked them to ban the import of
those junk supplies?"
