My location has been plagued by similar sounding noise on 80M for at least the
last year. Recently I turned off all branch breakers in the house, except I
left one breaker on for the rig and the main disconnect. I don't have a pan
display to show you, but I can tune across similar signal peaks at approximate
40 kHz intervals.
I'm suspicious it may be coming from the utility, maybe the "smart" meter
outside the house. I realize I need to run the rig on Batts and turn off all
inside breakers but one step at a time.
I'd be very interested in knowing what's causing Dick's noise.
73 de Gene Smar AD3F P.S. If you recall, I had my house rewired last year and
inquired here about AFCI problems. I had the electrician install an Eaton
panel, TVSS and AFCIs. Fortunately, only 1 AFCI so far has tripped a couple
times, probably due to my RF, I presume. Maybe a clip-on choke or two on the
Romex will solve that problem.
