I get that the old timers on here see ham radio and family life as a zero
sum game, but the fact of the matter is that in a LOT of areas, you cannot
find a suitable house for a family which does not involve a HOA. In
choosing between living 90 miles away from good schools, your job, or a
$100,000 divorce, most rational people will chose that which makes most
sense (i.e., not living in redneckia).
But this is really another topic for another day. The point is that if you
are in HOA territory, it is a tougher sell to tell a neighbor that his non
compliant wall wart or solar panel is interfering with your non compliant
amateur set up.
