The answer is "it depends" our local channel 3 is running digital on channel
2.  They will go back to 3 at the transition.  www.antennaweb.org is very
useful indeed.  Your mileage may vary.

Go to www.antennaweb.org

Click on Choose an Antenna

Enter your zipcode and uncheck the two boxes. Enter your address (or your 
neighbor's) to get more specific, if  necessary. Answer the two questions 
about your terrain and house. Click Submit.

Through that you'll be able to figure out what, where, and when... as well 
as how... to figure out what antenna system you'll need.
