Hi Bob,

All very good ideas to pass on to Solar Edge, however you might consider contacting the ARRL, (Steve Anderson), and coordinating your comments with their efforts as well.

It would be a shame to find that your comments, (claiming to represent all hams), might be at odds with something the ARRL is saying, representing all hams. That might confuse the Solar Edge people.

I believe the ARRL is currently working with Solar Edge, and I suspect they have passed on similar comments.

73, and thanks,

About a month ago I posted about my neighbors newly installed system. I
have not had any problems but a recent e mail from Solar Edge informant me
that she has not yet received their permission to activate it. I did file a
formal complaint with them.

The email went on to say that they would be contacting me shortly to
discuss the matter and do some troubleshooting. I’m composing a letter to
solar edge, explaining how us hams feel about these installations. I’m also
suggesting that if they can quiet these installations down, they would have
all of the hams in the United States as perspective customers. Several LED
light manufacturers are now advertising noise, free LED lighting and
amateur radio is mentioned in the advertising. Details to follow as I’m
updated. 73 Hang on I’m just Right with you

All:

Some of you may recall that I've been experiencing RFI from a neighbors
SolarEdge solar panel installation since 2016. In April of this year, I
received a phone call from SolarEdge to inform me that they were going
to install their new RFI-Free Optimizers ASAP. The crew finally showed
up on July 9th to remove the solar panels and the Optimizers and said
they'd be back in a week to install the new units.

In the interim, we've had NO RFI since the system was dismantled and
removed and it's the first time in 8 years since we've been able to work
HF during the day! Needless to say, I'm hoping the new components will
solve the problem.

I should mention that the work would have been done months ago, but
SolarEdge couldn't get permission from Tesla (the lease company) to do
the installation. I reached out to Steve Anderson, W1EMI at the ARRL and
he somehow got the attention of Tesla which thankfully got the ball
rolling.

I'll let the group know how things go once the new components are
installed.
