Even though I had the highest QSO total, I came up a bit short on
multipliers. With the ability to rework stations, I'm guessing it's a lot
harder to get to the second and third tier signals, where a few of those
backscatter mults lurk on 20. It's also apparent that a lot of RTTY
stations dont work the lower bands, or dont move down until the band is very
long. With the bottomless pit of QSOs due to the rework rule and no band
multipliers, it doesnt make sense for east coast stations to linger on 20
for very long as Hawaii isnt a multiplier in the Sprint! I'd also like to
see the Sprints go to low power to even out the playing field a bit. I've
run low and even QRP in the regular Sprints and it aint much fun!
WF1B doesnt have support for this specific contest, so I used the Internet
sprint setting. It works fine except it doesnt count multipliers. I used
WT4I's tools to convert and score the log afterwards (is he still around?).
His web site is www.cabrillotools.com, but some of the links on it still
point to www.wt4i.com, which some thieving internet company scarfed up
hoping to cash in. Anyway, if you change that part of the URL, the links
work fine.
Took me a while to figure out how to used 2 radios effectively for this
contest. Because of the QSY rule and long exchange, it's a lot of work and
hard to get in a rythym. Also, few stations moved off 20 until the 2nd hour
and there are very few SO2R guys so 40 was very slow to get rolling. When
80 finally stirred, I was able to work between 40 and 80 effectively and
made 100 QSO's in the last hour.
I was actually tired after this short 4 hour contest!
