Installing my LCD monitors on "arms" was the best thing I ever did. It cleared
up bunches of space.

The problem with arms is that they are still expensive. I bought a pair of
Ergotron model 300 arms that retail for $375 each but I found them at
Mendelson's (of Dayton fame) brand new for $150 each.

If you are going to purchase arms, make sure you get one that is heavy-duty.
Flat panel monitors are heavier than you think when you connect them to arms and
maneuver them around. I have the 20" Dell LCD screen and it's pretty heavy.
The Ergotron arm as no problem with it.

Before I purchased from Mendelson's, I looked on E-bay and didn't see any.
Today there are a couple there and there is one exactly like the ones I have.

E-bay Item number: 5135648617

Current bid is $59.99 with 12 hours to go. I don't need another one but if I
did, I'd be bidding on this one.

VESA is an industry standard and lots of manufacturers sell the arms -- both
desk mounted arms and wall mounted arms. Do a Google for keywords like "VESA,
arm, articulated," and you should end up with a lot of relevant hits, Peter.

The existence of the holes (smack in the center of the back of the
display) also makes it easy for you to fashion your own mounting instead of
buying them. I made the mounting for my current display so that bottom edge of
the display is flush with the top of my 1000MP when the display is placed on top
of the rig -- with the legs that came with the display, I would have to look
upwards to read the display when it is placed on top of the rig.
