You must use AFSK. The MFJ-1204 is a clone of Tigertronix Signalink -
it is a USB sound card with VOX based PTT and has no support for FSK.

I had a similar problem with my MFJ-1279, so I expect it is a setup issue
in my software or the rig itself.
