The 2014 CW Open takes place on Saturday 6th September
in three separate 4-hour sessions. You can enter any
number of the sessions - they're all scored individually,
and are CW-only on the 6 HF contest bands.
Anyone can enter - times are
0000-0359z
1200-1559z
2000-2359z
Rules at http://www.cwops.org/cwopen.html
SD V17.42 is free from www.ei5di.com. Earlier versions
are not recommended, they may not pre-fill the name on
a callsign match.
Select the "CW Open" template.
Enter your Name on the opening screen
Everyone works everyone. Exchange Serial and Name.
There are no reports.
Scoring is 1 point per QSO, with a multiplier for
each different valid callsign worked, regardless of
band.
Some hints about logging the exchange.
Type the received serial and name as a single continuous
field, for example 23FRED, followed by Enter - SD expands
this to 023 FRED.
As you type matching callsigns, you'll find that
SD pre-fills the names of CW Ops members and places
the cursor at the start of the name. When you type
the serial, it will be inserted in front of the pre-
filled name. Hit Enter as soon as you've completed
the serial, to log the QSO - there's no need to add
a space between the serial and the name.
Edit SD's Exchange "Run" memory (F2) using Shift-F2
to #C #S NAME#E - substitute your name for NAME.
That equates to Callsign Serial Name followed by
Enter (#E)
For the "S&P" exchange memory (F6), suggest
#S NAME#E
You should experiment with a test file before the
contest.
Use SDCHECK to create your Cabrillo log, and upload
it at http://www.b4h.net/cwops/
Please mention SD in your Cabrillo soapbox comments.

Paul EI5DI
