At a recent small group meeting on the Writelog program at Jay's (K4OGG)
house I asked if you could hook up two monitors
to one PC. I have three operating positions and one monitor will serve two
but the third position is several feet away. I need an additional monitor
as I run all the same software at all positions (not fancy interconnect
yet). The suggestion was to install an additional video card
as the PC is plug and play.
I was in Delta Electronics recently and found a SVGA/VGA multiplier for
hooking up to 8 monitors to one PC. I got the one with 4 as an option for
just a few $$$ more than a video card. It works great. These are designed
for classrooms. I can hook up 2 more and have a small 9" VGA and a 14"
MultiSync plus a 14" Panasonic VGA that is on an old 286/16 that housed the
CQ 160 Contests Database until last year. I think Bill W4AN has something
close to the 9" and I may give it a try.
Problem solved for now. The multiplier handles SVGA, VGA, even EGA and I
think XVGA (up to 1200 by 1200 ) so even if I get a new PC
this will move right along.
