SOAP.. Lots going on around here this weekend. Got our usual fri nite
exercise dancing at the VFW. Wife Mary WX4MM got in about 6 hrs in the
YLRL YL-OM SSB contest and I got to play a few hrs in the ARRL DX test
choosing S&P only. In between, we had company for a couple of hours and
went to our son's birthday dinner. The new Mark V Field worked great.
Getting better acquainted with all the bells and whistles, Hi Hi. Was
surprised we were getting such good signal reports running low power.
Feed point of 80M Vert is on side of hill in 'a hole'. This afternoon,
modified it by lengthening it abt 20 ft and adding a 5 ft piece of RG-8
at the bottom as a loading capacitor - to effectively raise the feed
point.. tks to Darrell K9MUG for suggestions. Made about 10 Q's
afterwards.. several to EU. I think the xmit efficiency is a tad better.
