Jay and all,
Most of my SS efforts have been QRP, and usually the "second best" band
works out well. 20M at the start of the contest is tough, so I usually
bounce
between 10 and 15, and try 20 a little later. 10 and 15 are good for far
West
multipliers from W6, KH6, KL7, VE7 and VY1. I also look for the Maritime
Provinces, KP4 and KP2 on 10.
40 and 20 are the "money bands" at any power level. Spend as much time
as you can on those bands; they have the most reliable propagation and they
attract casual operators. My best finish from Colorado (#5 QRP) had 75%
of all QSOs on 40M! Unfortunately, I've never done as well with QRP on
20, but 80 has been surprisingly good.
I still have not yet firmly committed to a power level, but leaning toward
another shot with QRP and better SO2R technique.
Good luck to all.
73, Gary
