For the first time ever I tried 160M using my 756 at the lowest RF power
setting and with
a totally unmatched antenna, a short version G5RV. To my surprise N4CW
in NC responded to
my call and succeeded in copying my 599 GA. With this feat accomplished
I decided to try for
an hour to see if anyone else could hear me. Nineteen other operators
responded during the
hour I spent on the air.
One DX QSO, VP5F, and W8JI, W4WA (both very loud), along with others in
NC, SC, TN, MD,
MO, KY, NJ, VA, MA, IN, MI and PA verified that there are a lot of good
ears out there.
I'm encouraged to try micropower (<1 watt) again on 160.
