Do you feel the same way about the ARRL A-1 Op club? It is similar
in that it requires nomination by a couple of members.
I don't have any problems with it...I can understand that it may seem
elitist, but I look at it more as a goal to strive for. Both FOC and
A-1 Op club encourage good operating habits - and the FOC is focused
on CW - a good thing in this day of almost nil CW requirements.
I doubt I'll ever be active enough to be considered for
membership...nor will my CW abilities ever be up to the task, but I
have no problems with the organization at all.
FWIW, we have at least a couple members here: K2UFT and K4BAI, as
was W4AN.

That is the neat thing...you can enjoy your opinion, as can the
FOCers. But there are others that share your opinion...didn't the
CFO (Chicken Foot Operators?) come about as a protest to the FOC?
