Also N4XP, K4OAH, K4EWG, AA4Z in Georgia are FOC members. W3VT was in
SC, but has recently moved back north. K4DL was in Alabama, but is now
in Washington state. W4CK in Tennessee was formerly in Auburn, AL. No
doubt there are others that didn't immediately come to mind. The late
K4II and N4LS were FOC members in SC.
The 500 membership is not fully prescribed. Any CW opr who would like
to be a member should hang out for ragchews around 025 khz and will
likely eventually be nominated. It takes two QSOs on two different
bands within the past year, so any requests to QSY to another band
should be honored. It is considered bad form to ask for nomination, but
isn't bad form to mention FOC in a QSO with a member. Guests are always
welcome at FOC social functions. N4GG is a former FOC member, who
dropped out when he became inactive about 15 years ago.
The idea of the BW QSO Parties is to give non-members a chance to work
members and vice versa. Certainly, don't do it if you don't want to,
but a lot of us found the BW QSO Party last October a lot of fun.
73,
John, K4BAI.
