All well as Dan's well spoken comments, 8-11 tubes are notorius for the connection under the cap developing high resistance or just failing. Solution is to drill a small hole in the top of the cap, apply heat from a soldering gun, remove the cap, clean the small length of pin, and then resolder. BTW, when checking that blocking cap from the plates to the finals, be sure you DO NOT touch the components on either side. If you find B+ on the final, that cap is bad. 73 Ed |
