This Week's Contests:

UTC Friday. Maximum power 100W. Maximum speed 18 WPM. 20, 40, 80 CW.

Maximum power 100W. 20, 40, 80 CW. Dupes OK after band change or one
intervening QSO. One kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC.
3. RSGB Islands on the Air (IOTA) Contest. 12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. CW,
SSB. 80-10M. Exchange: RS(T) + serial # + IoTA #, if applicable.
4. Adventure Radio Society Flight of the Bumblebees. Sunday 17-21Z.
40-10M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST, SPC, BB# or power output.
A reminder of the "usual" QRP frequencies on CW. Activity will be
spread out both sides of the QRP calling frequencies. 3560, 7040 (7030
for Europe and some contests, 14060, 21060, 28060. ARS will have
hundreds of QRP guys who have signed up to walk, bike, or ride to a
destination and put a QRP portable rig on the air. Many more will be
QRV from home. All of those QRP signals will sound like a buzz of
bumblebees. What a challenge to work them! Give it a try Sunday
afternoon if you get a chance.
We need more to sign up for NAQP CW and SSB teams. CW is August 1/2 and
SSB is August 15/16. Contact WA1FCN for an ACG Team. For SECC, we have
the following reported:
CW: K4BAI (PT), NM2L (PT or FT), N4XL (PT), NA4BW (FT QRP), W4OC (FT),
KU8E.
SSB: NM2L (possibly PT), N4XL (FT).
Obviously there is time for more to sign up and we do need more to sign
up. Teams are 2 to 5 members. You do not have to be inside a circle or
even be a member of a club to join in a team. Any one interested,
please contact WA1FCN or K4BAI ASAP. By the middle of next week (for
CW), if there isn't more interest expressed, I'll broaden the scope and
ask for stations from the Southeast Sprint Coalition if they would be
interested in joining a SECC team.
Sorry I can't be full-time this time around. Many of us will have a
conflict with SSB due to the Huntsville Hamfest. I hope everyone noted
the message from NQ4I about a contest hospitality room on Friday night
and a Contest Dinner at a Mexican Restaurant Saturday night. If anyone
missed that message, please let me know and I'll forward you a copy of
Rick's message.
73, John, K4BAI.
