Hello all:
This weekend will be the 50th GA QSO Party, the first one having been
organized by Rusty Epps, K4BVD, now W6OAT in May, 1962. All information
can be found at: http://gqp.contesting.com. This year, there are some
special events to mark the 50th GQP. There will be 18 one-by-one calls,
W4, N4, K4 calls ending in G-E-O-R-G-I-A. A special certificate will be
issued to every entrant who works at least seven of these one-by-one
call signs so that the suffixes spell out the state name. Also, special
certificates will be issued to every entrant who sends a log this year
and who also made QSOs in GQP in 1962. We have tried to identify those
who are still active and sent e-mails to them, but it is possible we may
have missed some, so let us know if you think you qualify, but no
special claim will be needed for those we have identified if your call
is still the same or we have identified your past and current call signs.
In addition to those fun activities, the traditional QSO party will be
continue and we have promised activity from at least one fixed,
portable, or mobile station from each of GA's 159 counties. GA has more
counties than any other state except Texas and the counties are
relatively small so mobiles can cover many counties in the 10 hours on
Saturday and 10 hours on Sunday.
Counties as multipliers are counted once on CW/digital and once on
Phone. If you have any questions or problems, e-mail me or the GQP
manager Mike, NE4S.
The GA QSO Party is co-sponsored by the SECC and the SEDXC.
73,
John, K4BAI.
