I am soliciting sign ups for a SECC team or teams for CW Open the first
weekend in September. Please let me know if you'd like to be on a team.
It doesn't matter if you are a member of SECC or not or if you are
inside any circle or not.
This Week's Contests:
1. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wednesday. 160-10M CW. Four
separate one hour mini tests. 1300Z, 1900, and 0300Z (Thursday UTC
date). Exchange: Name + CWT# or SPC. Look around 026-040 kHz and up
from 1815 kHz.
2. QRP Fox Hunt. Two QRP foxes will be between 14050 and 14070 from
0100Z to 0230Z Friday (Thursday local evening). 5W maximum power. Do
not spot the foxes' frequencies. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power.
Work only the two foxes: N8SS, EARL, MI and K2ZN, AL, NY. These should
be a good distance for us to work from here.
3. NCCC NS RTTY. 0145Z - 0215Z Friday (Thursday night local evening).
100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080 kHz and up from 1805 kHz.
4. NCCC NS Ladder Series. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thursday night local
evening.) 100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M
CW. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted.
Look around 040 kHz and up from 1815 kHz.
5. Hawaii QSO Party. 0400Z Sat to 0400Z Monday. Maximum of 18 hours
for single ops. 160-10M CW, Ph, RTTY, PSK. Exchange: RS(T) + S/P/DX
or Hi QTH ID. (See rules for QTH ID.)
6. Ohio QSO Party. 1600Z Sat to 0400Z Sun. 80-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + S/P/DX or Oh County. Note that the exchange is
changed this year. It previously was QSO# + SPC or Oh County. So, be
sure that your software is up to date with the correct exchange or make
the corrections in your Cabrillo file afterward. I am told that all
current major loggers have the current rules.
7. CVA DX Contest, SSB. 2100Z Sat to 2100Z Sun. 80-10M SSB.
Exchange: RS + Type or UF. See rules. Type may include QRP, YL, MIL,
etc. UF means something like county in Brazil. The easy part is that
stations outside Brazil send RS + "DX."
8. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint (SKS). 0000-0200Z
Tuesday night local, Wed UTC date. 160-6M CW. Use mechanical key only.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Bonus station is NC4RT,
Randy, in NC.
9. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date, 0230-0259Z Wednesday
UTC date. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160 SSB. 100W maximum power. No QSY rule.
Exchange: Name + SPC or DX.
10. CWTs. See #1 above.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and makes a lot of QSOs. 73,
John, K4BAI.
