Comments:
SPENT 2 DAYS WORKING IN SUB FREEZING TEMPS ON ANTENNAS INCLUDING CLEANING,
REBUILDING AND PUTTING UP AN OLD TH7DX FROM DON, W4OC. GOT THE ANTENNA UP AT
1845Z AFTER THE NAQP STARTED, THEN HAD TO PUT ON 6 RADIALS TO MY 80 METER
VERTICAL, STRETCH OUT MY 160 METER RADIALS, THEN SOLDER THE NEW WIRE AT THE
FEEDPOINT OF THE 160M METER ANTENNA. I LEFT THE LENGTH OF THE ANTENNA AT 160
FEET AND USED MY ANTENNA TUNER, WHICH SEEMD TO WORK. MURPHY HIT 1 HOUR INTO THE
CONTEST AS SIGNALS ON MY TS940S STARTED TO SOUND VERY RASPY, WHEN I WENT TO 80
METERS, IT WENT INTO OSCILLATION, AND 160 JUST WENT DEAD, IT WOULD COME BACK
FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN I THE MIDDLE OF A QSO IT WOULD DROP OUT. THE DISPLAY
EVEN WENT DEAD...STRUGGLED THE LAST FEW HOURS AND LOST MANY Q'S AND MULTS
BECAUSE OF THIS BUT HAD A BLAST ANYWAYS...73'S AND THANKS FOR ALL THE
Q'S...John W4IX
