I'll help, if I can...from the Huntsville side.

Subject: [SECC] Interesting Idea Dept
As I mentioned earlier, I'm working on some wireless high speed internet
access for Cumming and points north. One of the things that this opens up
for the club is opportunity for us all to communicate via repeaters.
There is a new technology that allows repeaters to be linked over the
internet. So, we could link a repeater here in Atlanta with one in
Huntsville and chat with the boys over there. We could link in Columbus,
but I don't think they make a paddle input on any 440 gear I've seen. :)
At any rate... one of the locations that I have access to now is near
Ballground Georgia. It is a 280' tower at about 1500' ASL. I can have
free access and free electricity in exchange for cutting the grass (for
ham purposes only). When I have a link to the internet at this site, we
could easily set up the links to other cities.
I have a buddy who has some 440 repeaters that I think I could get for
cheap or nothing. I think he even reserved me a frequency pair on 440
last year. This would get most of us in north Atlanta QRV. I know there
are several other repeaters around town with this same capability, but I
dno't know their policies on using them. Mostly, the UHF and VHF bands
sound pretty dead to me when I tune around at night.
Is there interest? Is this a "if you build it, we will come" proposition,
or could I get some help?
