After receiving various responses, the following summarize the responses and
my personal conclusions:
1- TRlog is working exactly as it was designed to work. The popular
prefixes are listed and not the actual ones. "Dupes" are no longer supposed
to be printed in the multiplier column, where applicable, as in the past.
2- Regarding the prefixes, the consensus is that it doesn't matter what was
sent, all that need be logged (for the CQ 160) is the popular prefix.
That's great! Just think - I didn't have to waste so much time trying to
get the exact exchange when it was uneccessary. If I was sure of the call
sign and the usual "599" RST, then nothing more need be copied. I'm sure
that I could have made many more QSOs had I known this. Also, there must
have been at least a dozen or so QSOs that I deleted since they were
incomplete - I never fully copied the complete exchange - usually missing
the last part (SI or S5?, UA or ER or RUS?, UA or AR?, OK or CZ, etc.,
etc.).
Anyway, next year, I will be so much the wiser! No more frustrating NR?,
QTH? , etc. for those weak QSBing signals down in the noise - just let the
logging program put in the standard prefix. Evidently this is acceptable to
the contest committee. I was wrong in thinking that the committee uses a
check of the actual logged QTH as a verification of a truly complete QSO.
Next year, I won't unfairly penalize myself !
2-Regarding the marking of dupes in the CQWW contest, may I refer this
learned reflecteeship to the official rules on the CQ Magazine website.
Section XI, paragraph 4, states that "Submitted logs must have duplicate
contacts clearly shown." Since this was done by marking "dupe" in the past,
I must apologize for my stupidity in thinking that the current version
should also "...have duplicate contacts clearly shown." It's obviously not
necessary regardless of what the rules say.
