Welcome.

4.05 is about 3 1/2 years older than version 5.97.
As you might guess things have changed over the years.
The user interface and look of the program is the same
but there have been many inhancements.

Looking in my 4.02 manual:

Kenwood and Yeasu radios are supported only.
But the commands are a bit diffrent.
RADIO CONTROL PORT = SERIAL 2
INTERFACED RADIO TYPE = TS850

The packet interface was quite new in 4.05 - again there
have been alot of changes. The baud rate was fixed at 2400
baud in version 4.05 - also it is fixed at 7 bits.
Many TNCs are setup at 8 bits - so you would need to
make sure your TNC is setup to 7 bits. I have a
KPC-2 and as I recall back with 4.05 or so I had
to use a three wire cable - a fully wired cable would not
work with it's old packet interface.

Mainly it is just that some of the more advanced features
either have evloved and use diffrent control commands
or were in their early stages.

We have been providing 4.05 -this was the version that
eveyone was using in the 1993 cq ww cw contest- as a
free version so that it would give an idea of how
the software looked and felt. Now that it is getting quite
dated - maybe we need to add a disclamer to it.

If I can help in any way let me know.

Thanks
