I used VE3IAY's config files (thanks Rich!) as a template
for the RTTY Sprint, and it worked very well. Very well,
with one exception which drove me (and probably everyone
I stepped on) completely mad.
Hitting Escape would not terminate a message sent with a
function key. The only way I could stop an unwanted F-key
transmission was to power off the PK-232 (!), or hit F10/Esc
several times in a row. This was downright maddening in
the Sprint, and I'm sorry to everyone I tortured when I
hit the wrong key. It usually happened when I S&P'ed someone
and was in CQ mode instead of S&P. Lots of ARRRgghhh!!!!
Escape properly aborts the F10 command, (:) but I can not find
a way to abort an unwanted F-key message once it is started.
This is a pretty critical feature.
TR makes a great RTTY contesting program with an external TU.
However, there has to be a way tp abort a message immediately
with the Escape key.
Now that I think about it, there seem to be situations where
the same thing applies to CW. That is, I cannot abort a CW
message under certain circumstances. I think it happens
intermittently when using Control-Enter to log a QSO.
Has anyone else experienced an inability to abort messages?
