I think the key is that he said "when I HOLD DOWN CTL-J" and attemp to
write--
When CTL-J is pressed a screen pops up with all of the function. You
scroll to the item desired and follow the instructions on the bottom of
the screen.
CTL-J is not kept depressed while choosing the function.
