VGA display in V582

After expanding v582 and playing with the beam heading and the like, 
found my VGA display was enabled (42 lines I think) even when it was 
DISABLED in the logconfig.dat. 

After some experimenting, removing the "home grid" command caused the 
dispaly to revert to full size. Not sure why the two are "related" but 
they are for me..... An undocumented feature or just something I've done?
