As far as I know, the differences between the 229 and 238 were cosmetic, mostly
to match the colors and knobs of rigs being produced at the time.

You mean 229 and 238, I am guessing. Latest 2 or 3 Iterations of the 238 used a
turns counter for the inductor. Last one (C) has cross needle meter. Ceramic
capacitor values changed slightly from the 229. The 4229 was a kit version....
Early. Voltage baluns. Prolly stir up some angst, but I wouldn't use the balun
without reworking it. Just me. Not sure of transformation value.... Others will
know. Greg, KC8HXO

Can anyone enlighten me (and others) as to differences between the later 229
models and 228 models.
Presumably some technical improvements
were made?
Re the installed balun : is it a
current or voltage balun, and is it 1:1 or 4:1 ?
Thanks.
