I wonder if someone on the reflector has a EPROM programmer that could setup
a different communications
language for the OMNI VI. Total control of a HF rig from the keyboard during
a contest is a very nice option
to have. I know Kenwood's and the FT1000 series have full interface
capabilities in their communication software
with a PC. After trying a FT1000MP at Field Day using TR contesting software
it was nice using the Shift keys
to tune up and down the bands doing search and pounce. Also calling CQ and
running stations the shift keys would
tune the RIT up or down as needed and after logging the QSO sending a ">"
command to the rig it would
zero the rit for the next QSO. Now I can feel all the flame throwers heating
up hold on , now I wouldn't
give up my OMNI VI for any other rig but full interface control is getting
to be a necessity not a luxury nowadays.
I know not everyone on the reflector is a Contestor or DXer but we all have
our favorite modes. If TenTec would
have a option for a new total PC interface sign me up I'll buy one.
