Well get set for one very nasty feature of the AEA MM-3 Morse Machine. I
tried back in 1991 to get AEA to upgrade the firmware in this keyer but they
in the end made promises and then just lied their way out of the mess. This
is one company that really needed to go bankrupt.
The MM-3 when operated under a serial port connection has a very basic
fundamental and incompetent fault - the back space key does not erase the
last character sent into the keyer - typing errors go to the transmitter.
Your only option is to erase the buffer (send the "^" character to the
keyer).
The CW character set in the MM-3 is incomplete, it does not send the "CW
Error signal", 8 dits, and as well there are other omissions and outright
errors.
I urge you NOT to try connecting multiple rigs to the keyer at one time,
many rigs will not work properly this way and the use of relays messes up
the timing significantly over 15 wpm. A switch selecting which rig to key
is important.
Good Luck with this unit...
