OH yes Agreed!

I use a Paragon and an Omni VI+.  I simply run the line in and line out from
the computer sound card via a shielded pair of 1/8" phone plugs to RCA
cables direct to the audio in and audio out on the transceivers.  No
interface, no transformers and best of all........no problems.
