Hi John,
I had a Triton II as well, while living in Oklahoma.
I bought it for $80 with blown finals.
I had no intention of repairing it.
Instead, I simply bypassed the Final PA circuitry and had myself a nice
analog QRP rig with 10w of output power.
I wanted to be able to operate at length from battery, in case we got hit by
a Tornado...which almost never happens in Oklahoma!

Rick,
I had a Triton II. Shortly after I bought it, Ten-Tec offered an 8 pole
filter upgrade. I had it done and thought the band was dead when I first got
the radio back. Then I realized there were plenty of signals. They no longer
blended together! :-}

Well I need to correct my own post.
(sri)
The Triton I was the 510 and had 50w out.
The Triton II was the 520 and identical to the 510, except it 100w out.
They both also had 4-pole xtal lattice filters, like the Argonauts.
AND they both also had the 4-kHz tuning rate on 10m like the Argonauts.
The Triton IV 540 was analog, the 544 was digital. Otherwise they were
identical.
They had the 8-pole filter, 4x 500 Hz band segments on 10m and it was the
10m band which was hotter.
I think I have it correct now.
