We are already paying for it. Our bands are full of lids with wide signals
that sound horrendous.
Mic Gain: Full Speed Ahead
Processor Gain: Full Speed Ahead
Etc.
Having said that, I was then and am now against incentive licensing.
I worked hard to earn privileges and suddenly they were taken away.
This is wrong.
Of course I upgraded and got them back, but the concept of taking them away
was wrong.
It is not that hard to motivate people to do more of anything.
You just have to be creative and use your brain.
Of course many people's brains are dormant these days.

Dave,
You are right on. The idea of incentive licensing was to promote a higher
level of radio knowledge, but I guess that was lost. Now the tests are made
to get as many people on the air as quickly as possible. Somewhere down the
road we will all pay for this easy entry.
I am 76 and I will also be out of the way soon.
