I have documented that problem on my website, www.n6ie.com as RF getting in
through the headphones cable. There is a free factory mod that fixes the
problem with a filter board that plugs into the audio board located inside
the front panel of the radio. You can verify if that's the problem by
wrapping the headphones cables around a ferrite loop as close a possible to
the connector. The board cleared up the RFI 100%.
On my O2, the problem was worst on 10 meters with the amp on and the beam
pointed in the general direction of the shack, although I suppose a lot of
other combinations of power levels, frequencies and antennas could cause
similar problems.
