OK, yes, I had the analog version.
I intentionally purchased the analog version for its reduced power drain on
receive.
I also turned of the dial lamps and worked by candlelight. I operated a lot
off of my motorcycle's battery and I didn't fancy push-starting it in the
mornings.
So if you ever come across an Argosy with candle wax all over it, that's
probably the one I was using!

That only applies to the earlier s/n (I think just analog?) units. The
later/digital version used ALC and kept the 50W PA in line at all power
levels. I understand that TT had their reasons for the change but I still
prefer the PA bypass system, especially as Rick noted for battery operation.
