Dave, I'm in agreement with you. Let me first say that I have nowhere
near the technical knowledge of many of you on the reflector. I do, however
have a good understanding of how our radios work and of theory in general.
I pull out the solder gun sometimes, and can run 40wpm, so I am not a fool
or an "Extra Lite". I like the idea of being a beta tester for my Orion.
We allow TT to have a larger sample of what the individual Orion operator
needs. The more folks that are "testing" a radio, the easier it is for TT
to decide what the critical needs for update might be. We might not realize
the beauty of this until the long haul. The Orion has some quirks, but I
LOVE it! Even if I had the money for the big, new, high power Yaesu, I'd
still use my Orion. It is very hard for me to accept that any of the new
Icom or Yaesu biggies are 6-9k better than my Orion. These discussions have
been like the owner of a 90k BMW arguing that his car is better than the STS
Caddy another fellow has. I'd happily take the Caddy any day. Viva la
differance! Richard, n5xm
