I was surprised to learn that here in Germany few people use copper ground rods.
Instead they use Galvanized Steel stakes.
You guys can laugh (I hope) at my cutting edge antennas but as I said, I almost
always only write about things I have actually done; I don't like to speculate.
I actually built one back in 1980, similar to "Bleeding Hell" antenna shown on
my web site.
I was on a motorbike trip and had my Argonaut with me, but in my rush to pack
an go, I forgot to take wire for the long wire antenna. Found a barbdwire
fence that was down already so I borrowed some barbed wire and built the
antenna.
Waste of time. The thing was a dummy load, almost. I guess RF just doesn't
like galvanized Autobahns.
That said, it surprises me that Germans use Galvanized ground stakes.

Do you think this might have the added benefit of reducing theft of Copper wire
from antenna installations?
If so, when can I place my order?
A structure like this would have prevented the local street urchins from
pulling my ground rods out of the ground.
The joke was om them though, they were simply Copper plated steel, worth about
$0.50 each as scrap metal! That’s a lot of work for $1.50 total payback!
