This afternoon, some friends came over and helped me put my A3S
with 40m add-on kit back on the 70 ft tower. As soon as I got off
the tower, we all came in to the shack to check the antenna out on
the air.

Only one of the four had ever seen an Omni VI live. I started on
10m and worked my way down: 1.1:1 in the CW portions of 10,
15, and 20m; 1.8:1 in the CW portion of 40m--tolerable.

While we were sitting around talking someone asked why the VI
was called the "plus". I said because there had been a few
enhancements to it which included some noise reduction.
Whereupon, I reached over--the radio was still on and there
was a 559 station transmitting on frequency--and punched
the NR button. Suddenly, there was the ex-559, now-589
station, but with no baseband noise. There was a collective
"wow" in the room. I think they were impressed.

See you all in SS CW and SSB!!
