Oh, make no mistake! I’m with you, Rick. I saw a review somewhere on an
Elecraft reflector that put some numbers on rx performance and, based on that,
I expect the rx to fold in a serious contest environment.
Like you, if I had $5k of spare change floating about and a couple hundred
hours to kill, it would probably be a fun project, but... I have neither. Looks
good ergonomically, has some nice features, probably does a good job well away
from Big Guns, but it’s not an economical choice.
If ya just gotta build it yourself, you want good/very good analog performance,
and money plus time are no object... He should go right ahead!
