I just finished a cable to connect Omni VI/3, computer, 301 encoder and
253 automatic antenna matcher. I opened the factory connector on the encoder
plug and connected a light gauge multiconductor shielded wire and db 9
connector according to the factory hook-up to the computer as shown in the
Omni VI
manual. This simply parallels the connections into the transciever. I did see
a note in the manual about using a "Y" connector for a similar application
and this should work the same. On my application the encoder plugs into a "Y"
connector and cable which is a factory item for using the antenna matcher. I
think the same cable is also used for the Hercules II band change interface. I
havn't tried this as I'm still working on our shack and the rig is
temporarily set-up in the motorhome.
Hopefuly someone who knows more about this will bless this hookup so I"ll
feel more comfortable about submitting it for consideration.
Good Luck on the project & 73 Ed N5BBC Republic Of Texas
