Yes, I have John.  Even seems to do it with my Sony Professional
headphones. (Audio set to 15%, rf gain set to 27%, agc either fast or
med.)
I haven't been able to try it with an external speaker since I don't
have one where I am, but when I tried one at the factory on the internal
speaker, it did not do that.
Bear in mind that I have limited experience with the rig here.  Have
only had an antenna where I could receive signals for one evening.

How long have you had the Omni VII?  Did the problem just crop up or was
it there from the beginning?

I also experienced an oddity last night.  The controls seemed to go
unresponsive.  Had to push a button (any one) several times before it
would respond and the tuning was weird.
The frequency seemed to shift by many khz at times with a slight turn of
the knob (vfo speedshift was turned off).  Cycling the power did not
help, nor a master reset.
Today it seems ok.  Very strange.
