In the middle of the night, I made a mistake about the voltage -- I was
indeed using 12, not 9 volts, but rated at 7 amps. I checked the voltage
before usinng it with a VOM and it was 12 volts -- that is why I had my
question. Thanks for the replies so far! Does the chirping I got with a
12V 7 amp battery but NOT with Ten Tec's power supply change the answers
from the group?
