Got a lot of response on this one....some private and those that all
of you have seen on the reflector. Interesting responses.
Perhaps we are missing the point here. I am not advocating cranking
the xmit BW out beyond the normal 2.4 or 2.7 Khz width, nor am I
suggesting that a Pegasus will sound as good as the 756 PRO's or Mark
V's with all the rack gear and $ studio mics on the input. I am only
looking for a way to make a marginal microphone (not necessarily the
705....could be any cheap RS mic)sound better. It would appear to me
that the equalizer would redistribute, and perhaps help, some of the
lows that normally get lost in the input of most rigs. I have
listened to W2IHY's demo audio clips from his web site and they sound
pretty good...at least better than most audio you(I) hear on 75 these
days. I also agree that those folks running rack gear on 20 are in
the high power arena. However, you can have a fairly decent QSO on
75 or 40 without all the high power. After all the discussion....I
did learn that there are folks running the W2IHY EQ with the Pegasus.
